Breakthrough 2012

After being home from our youth camp, Breakthrough, for 4 days now I am just now coming out of what I affectionately call my Breakthrough hangover.

The week is so incredible but I come back wiped out!

We rolled down to Oak Hill, WV {:the middle of nowhere...talk about wrong turn:} about 130 deep last Monday morning. It took us one tour bus, three 15 passenger vans, 2 trailers, and 5 other cars, vans, and trucks to get everyone and all of our stuff down there. Talk about a caravan.

So the week was, well, AWESOME...pictures can never do it justice

Whenever we come back from camp we always get the question "so how was it?"
It is one of the hardest questions to answer because how do you ever put into words what God has done in and through 130 people, leaders and students alike. I am sure there are words, I just don't know them. But, the coolest part is I don't think I have to put it into words for those around us because they are soon going to see what God did in these students and leaders played out in their schools, sports teams, work places, friends, and families.

To help you readers better understand I will try my best to put the indescribable into words.

Each day was filled with awesome extreme activities from whitewater rafting, zip-lining, rock climbing, and paint balling, to having a blast on their man-made lake with about 20 different inflatables in it.

Each night we had a service that was anything but normal. The excitement and anticipation each night before service was ridiculous. Every service began with this almost tangible energy and then transitioned into something uniquely beautiful to itself. Students and leaders crying out prayers of surrender and voices being lifted asking God to just speak to them.

Each year Breakthrough is amazing, but what was different about this year from all the rest was that each person didn't just come home with a new passion. They realized what happens when their passion is united with the guy and girl on their left and right. Instead of coming back one strong we came back 130 strong and filled with desire and passion for a city to know Jesus. Its a passion that ignites a fire and then spreads like wildfire.

In Ezekiel 20 47-48 (MSG) "the Master, says, 'I'll set a fire in you that will burn up every tree, dead trees and live trees alike. Nobody will put out the fire. The whole country from south to north will be blackened by it. Everyone is going to see that I, God, started the fire and that it's not going to be put out.'"

I truly believe that there is a fire set in 130 peoples hearts that will affect {:blacken:} the hearts of those dead and alive {:believers and nonbelievers:} around them. People around them are going to start seeing what God is doing in and through them and be so attracted to them that their  own lives are going to start being changed. What was once just blackened by the affects of a passionate heart around them is going to start their own fire and passion within themselves.

So thankful to be a part of something so heaven breathed and so much bigger than myself.
