Adored 2012

It feels so good to write a blog again! As I told you on our coffee date I was in an extremely busy season, but life seems to be calming down....for the most part. I do have two weddings in the next two weekends, but what girl doesn't love going to or being in a wedding?

So can I share with you what I have been working on since about June?
Every year our church hosts a women's event called Adored. It is a weekend where women have the opportunity to gather with their girlfriends and leave their everyday life behind for a few hours in that weekend.

This year's theme was "Come Away." The theme came from Psalm 27:8

"My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds "LORD, I am coming."

I love that scripture! So this year, as part of the Adored team, our job was to create an environment where women felt they could "come away" from their everyday ordinary lives and be refreshed by their creator.

Here are a few pictures of what we came up with for decor.
{:Maybe it will give you some ideas for those of you planning weddings in the near future, OR in the distant future just because it is fun to plan....which by the way I now believe is my dream job. The wedding planning part...I don't want to make a job out of getting married! ha Once is good for me.:}

The women were greeted by our charming men who served us so well all weekend long. They were escorted to the front doors to see our coffee filter wreaths that turned out spectacular.
{:Women raved over these and wouldn't believe me that we made them from coffee filters!:}

As they walked through the glass doors we put up yards of muslin and tulle.
{:You can see some of our charming men in this picture:}

As they walked under this they then entered the concourse...

In the concourse the ladies saw an environment filled with white and cream accented with pink lighting. The hula hoop chandeliers were a huge hit and so easy to make.
{:Just wrap white ribbon around a hula hoop and wire one strand of icicle lights to it VIOLA:}

This was our registration table. Tulle covered 2 strands of christmas lights with 3 different shaped vases on either end. The vases were wrapped with a cream colored ribbon and contained floating candles inside.

We also had a relaxation room for the ladies with chocolate covered strawberries, Perrier, and message therapist!
{:You can see inside this room a little better in the picture above this one:}

Inside our "big room" {:where services are held in our church:} we had a prayer table...

We used three candle holders in 3 different heights of corse and a suitcase with iridescent beads draping over the old suitcase. Women put their prayer cards in the old suitcase.
{:If you are wondering why there is newspaper in the suitcase, it is to help pull out the old musty smell...just a little tip that may come in useful for you one day:}

OKAY now on to the event....

The stage was draped with tulle starting in the center and going out to all four corners and in the center was a massive {:about 65lbs massive:} carnation ball. It smelled and looked amzeballs!
On the back we draped a sheer white curtain.
{:You can see the stage better in other pictures but these just looked cool:}

You can see how the entire look of the stage can change with just lighting!
Our opening was a smash up between the song "Lights" and "Pocket Full of Sunshine"
So good and so creative!

This is a picture taken from the lighting cool over 350 women accepted the invitation to "Come Away" with their Savior for the weekend.

The event was for all women, but this year we had a heart to honor those women diagnosed with cancer. To honor them, as sisters, we rallied around them and sent up wish lanterns signifying the prayers we were releasing to heaven on their behalf. It was breath taking!
I got the opportunity to pray over the women as we were releasing the wish lanterns....the worship team also played an acoustic version of Martina McBride's song "I'm Going to Love you Through It"

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to hear some AMAZING speakers
Our very own co-pastor of The Living Room, Pastor Beth Green, opened Friday night talking to us about a woman in the Bible named Tabitha who was dead but was brought back to life because there was purpose remaining in her. She spoke to our own lives filled with situations that seem to be dead and reminding us that God can bring life to those areas.
Pastor Holly Wagner, of OASIS church in LA {:you may have recently seen her on the VIEW with Cherrie Shepherd:} spoke Saturday morning. She shared a bit of her story and how she was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 1/2 years ago and how she dealt with it and defeated it.
Spenser Wempe, Miss West Virginia 2011, was incredible as she opened up for the first time from the platform how losing her mother at age 11 to breast cancer has given her a renewed faith and strength.
Pastor Holly shared again with the entire church {:we decided to let the men back in:} Sunday morning.

I had the awesome opportunity over that weekend to emcee the event along with my pastor as well as share my heart in an offering talk.

To make sure our ladies got in a good laugh over the weekend some of our incredible guys dressed up in some pretty ridiculous stuff and worked the runway for a fashion show!
The pictures are funny but it doesn't compare to how hilarious it was in person! They did such a good job....women were in tears!

And we couldn't let our girls leave without presenting them with a gift...
A rose with a shoe charm tied to it.
{:The significance of the shoe is for women to simply flourish where ever they are:}
The gifts were presented to the women as Mario sang Boyce Avenues version of "You Don't Know You're Beautiful"

Then Emmy G sang "Wide Awake" by Katy Perry for our Saturday night opener...

Don't you wish you were there!
It was amazing :)
