High Five for Friday

Photobucket

ONE: I am in D.C. today working with Generation Hope Project on beautifying a school. Soo excited to be here!! and having a blast, but definitely working hard.

Two: I got a brand new MacBook Pro and I am loving it. The sad news is I had to get it because my old computer crashed last Friday night {the week before finals} and it had EVERYTHING on it. ANNNNND I do not use jump drives because I am absent minded and always loose them. Luckily the amazing guys at Best Buy were able to recover my documents and pictures. Praise the Lord!!! I almost had a heart attack.
{{Isn't she beautiful}}

Three: I had Sweet Frogs again this week. Yes I know, this may be becoming a problem....BUT I have an excuse. I took one of the high school youth girls :) building relationships and yummy yogurt SCORE
{{I Just adore her and the conversations we had Wednesday night}}

Four: I am DONE my Masters!!! Can you hear me singing the hallelujah chorus??
Graduation here I come! Check one more item off of my 2012 goals

Five: Because the chaos of assignments and finals are over I was able to catchup on my favorite show, Smash. Have you seen it? I love it!

Have an awesome weekend! Check back here Monday and see how my weekend in D.C. went :)

Generation Hope Project

This Thursday several friends of mine and I are all loading up in a van and heading to Washington D.C. {{It is only about 2 hours, or less from where I live}} We are all going to be part of an outreach ministry in connection with Joel Osteen's church called the The Generation Hope Project. This Thursday and Friday young adults from around the nation are taking off work and school to come to our nation's capitol and make a difference{{HOW COOL IS THAT!!}} I am so excited to meet some new people from all over who have a heart and passion for people and for making a difference in their lives.

During these two days young adults will be out in D.C. serving area food banks, shelters,  communtiy parks, disabled children's facility, little league fields, and schools. There is no doubt that this city is going to feel the impact of what happens when my generation is mobilized with a project they can put their hands to and their hearts behind.

I received a call from my group leader letting me know that I will be serving at an elementary school in the D.C. area. We will work on landscaping, painting, and just beautifying a school that has been neglected. I am so excited to talk to my students about this. I think it is important for them to know why I am not going to be there on Thursday and Friday. I want my students to understand that I care about people and have a heart to help not only in my community, but wherever there is a need I am able to meet.

This is an incredible cause and you can check it out {here}on Facebook.

THEN on Friday night I will be attending Joel Osteen's Night of Hope in Nationals Stadium with the others involved in the Generation Hope Project along with thousands of others. The event is now standing room only which means there are already about 50,000 people attending! How ridiculous is that!?! There is not doubt that our nations capitol will be touched by the presences of an incredible God through the hands and hearts of His people.

So so so thankful I have the opportunity to be a part of something that is so much bigger than me!

PS: There will absolutely be a post about my weekend there next week.

High Five For Friday

Photobucket

!!Happy Friday!!

So here are my high fives from what has been an exhausting week, but that is the beauty of doing this. It makes me look at all the good :)

ONE: Last weekend we had our youth, chicks sleepover at the church. It was jungled themed and we called it "Girls in the Wild," we thought Girls Gone Wild might be a little too risque. It was a ton of fun and we had over 40 girls come! There was nail polish, hair curling, dancing, games, and lots of giggles (even at 3 am). I also had the amazing opportunity to bring a message to the middle school  girls who attended the event. You can check out some of what I talked with them about here.

TWO: Two things I ordered, came in this week: my lamp for the living room and my white skinny jeans from American Eagle. (My tax return came is now in my bank account and I see that as an invitation to go shopping hehe)

THREE: My AC has been broken for about the past month. What an ordeal that has been, but I finally got a brand new unit installed yesterday. Unfortunately, this came after the 90 degree day we had on Monday which equalled a sleepless night for me in my 85 degree house. (I like to sleep cold so I can pile on the blankets!) But, it is in now just in time for the warm weather. BRING ON SUMMER!

FOUR: A yogurt shop called Sweet Frogs just opened up in town and I took some girls from youth there Wednesday night and we had a BLAST. They are so much fun to hang out with and I get pains in my side from laughing so hard with them.
As for Sweet Frogs if you have never been you need to find the closest one and RUN. You choose your own yogurt flavor or flavors and then you can pile on any topping imaginable.

Yes, this happened. She ate every bite and said she still wanted more!!
PS how cute is she?!

FIVE: I am one week away from completing my Masters!!!!!! HALLELUJAH
This past week has been filled with hours upon hours in front of my computer. I have written at least two papers a night and I am still not done. But, my momma is amazing and even brought me dinner last night because she knew I wouldn't have time to make myself anything.(Aren't moms the best?!)
The end is definitely in sight.. ahhhh *sigh*

Have an amazing weekend  lovelies<3 and remember to take time to breathe and relax.

Hair Curling Tutorial

Last week I put up my first hair tutorial. I must be on a roll because one week later I am putting up my second.
::Yeah, I am feeling pretty proud of myself ;)::

Anyway, today's tutorial is on how I curl my hair.
I frequently have people asking me the the question of how I curl my hair.
So i decided showing people is MUCH easier than trying to tell them.

I hope this helps:)

What would a blog titled "My Life in High Heels" be without a fab pair of heels posted on my Sunday Seven, right?

I love this idea for a guest bath.

Girls in the Wild

Many of you have probably heard the story of Ruth before. If not here is a quick recap:

Naomi is a widow with two sons who are married to Ruth and Orpha. Her two sons die and leave her daughters-in-law widows as well. They are traveling back to their home town where they have heard God is blessing the people with an abundance of food. Here is where we pick up the story.

After a short while on the road, Naomi told her two daughters-in-law, "Go back. Go home and live with your mothers. And may God treat you as graciously as you treated your deceased husbands and me. May God give each of you a new home and a new husband!" She kissed them and they cried openly. They said, "No, we're going on with you to your people." But Naomi was firm: "Go back, my dear daughters. Why would you come with me? Do you suppose I still have sons in my womb who can become your future husbands? Go back, dear daughters—on your way, please! I'm too old to get a husband. Why, even if I said, 'There's still hope!' and this very night got a man and had sons, can you imagine being satisfied to wait until they were grown? Would you wait that long to get married again? No, dear daughters; this is a bitter pill for me to swallow—more bitter for me than for you. God has dealt me a hard blow." Again they cried openly. Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye; but Ruth embraced her and held on. But Ruth said, "Don't force me to leave you; don't make me go home. Where you go, I go; and where you live, I'll live. Your people are my people, your God is my god; where you die, I'll die, and that's where I'll be buried, so help me God—not even death itself is going to come between us!" (Ruth 1:8, 10-14,16 MSG)

If you have heard this story, which has been preached and part of devotionals millions of times, you have probably heard about how Ruth's obedience led her to the man God had for her. Or, how Ruth's dedication to people (Naomi) led her into God's provision for her life (Boaz).

All awesome points, but I want to go in a different direction with it- SISTERHOOD

Some of you are probably tempted to stop reading right now thinking....I may be a girl but I don't even really like them! Trust me I have been there and you probably have said some of the things I have said: guys are just chill, no drama. OR Girls can be so mean and the guys could care less if I match, my nails are painted, or my hair needs colored! Yes?

Well here is a crazy idea....God created women to be in connection and relationship with other women. Crazy idea huh? But here is the kicker: if it wasn't true why would the enemy try so hard to keep Gods women at odds with each other?

We live in a wild world....you might even say we are "Girls in the Wild." Life can be crazy wild sometimes as it throws us loops and turns and downhill drops faster than your favorite roller coaster. And, life was pretty wild for Naomi and Ruth in this story. Poor Naomi had lost both her sons and her husband and Ruth had lost her husband. But in the midst of hardship and circumstances that were just plain hard Ruth recognized that she needed Naomi more than ever, they needed each other. They needed SISTERHOOD.

I wonder what our worlds would look like if we chose to encourage the women in our worlds rather than criticize them. What if we reached out a hand of hope and help instead of just taking pitty on them? What if each woman in your world realized her potential and started encouraging others to do the same instead of looking at one another as competition? I honestly don't know exactly, but I know that God is waiting for it to happen and will release something amazing on the Earth through his UNITED daughters when it does.

"If ever there comes a time when the women of the world come together purely and simply for the benefit of mankind it will be a force such as the world has never known."

High Five for Friday

Photobucket

I cannot believe it is Friday....I have to admit that I am partly sad it is Friday because it means my Spring Break is over. But, I like to look on the bright side of things and that means that I have 26 days (just 5 weeks) left of work before Summer Break YAHOOO, and only a month until I graduate with my Masters. It's all about perspective.

Since it was Spring Break, I had many highs for this week, but I will restrain myself and share with you only the most exciting.

ONE: My new blog is finally up and I am so so excited about it. I have been working on it for weeks and I think it captures my personality pretty well. So look around and let me know what you think :)

TWO: On Tuesday my rockstar mom volunteered to help me dig out flower beds. PHEW I had no idea the time and work that was. I thought I could dig them out, put that black stuff down so weeds don't grow (you can see by my gardening vocabulary that I have quit the green thumb NOT), plant flowers and put in the mulch all in an afternoon. How wrong was I!? Well, Momma and I worked for hours and this is what we got done. Tomorrow Mom and Dad are coming over and we are going to put that black stuff down and put in the black rubber mulch I bought. Pictures to come for sure.

THREE: Each year our church hosts a women's event/conference called Adored. This year we have the amazing Holly Wagner speaking!  Tuesday we had our first planning meeting. Girls, if you are in the area you really will not want to miss this. The dates are September 7 and 8. Check here for more information.
It is honestly one of my favorite weekends of the entire year. Who doesn't love a weekend to focus on Jesus with all her favorite girlfriends?!
::Holly Wagner::
Here is a peek from last year

FOUR: I had a shopping day with my momma on Wednesday. We went to Hobby Lobby for me to get supplies for me to start my newest project, stencil painting curtains (post on that later), and I got my beloved Starbucks!!! (Or as my friend calls it "Mooncoins")
:: Oh yes it was a good day!::

FIVE: In our youth services we started a brand new series called "Tattoo Me."  It is all about what it means to be "marked" by Jesus. Not just living a life of "I cants" anymore (I can't party, I can' drink, I can't hang out with those people anymore, I can't....) but living a life where people recognize the Jesus within you. It just started Wednesday and is totally stirring something in myself and so many others. LOVE IT!!!

For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won't walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won't fall apart. The God who has compassion on you says so.
Isaiah 54:10

Hair Teasing Tutorial

I have finally posted a hair tutorial on here like I have been wanting to! YaY, and hopefully I will have another to post for next week (the beauty of Spring Break). So let me know what you think....

One of the many things I learned as a pageant girl was how to get volume into your lifeless hair. I have fairly thin hair and it is pretty lifeless without all the product I put in and teasing.
