Makeup Picks from a Has-Been Pageant Queen

For those of you who are new around here you may not know I am a has-been pageant girl.
{: subject of another  Kara Near Photography miracle:}
See, I wasn't lying. But after I won one of my pageants I sat down to talk with the judges about how I could prepare for Miss WV. As I was talking to one of my judges a portion of our conversation went like this:
Judge: "Has anyone ever taught you how to apply your makeup?"
Me: "No"
Jude: "I can tell."

OH SNAP. Yes he did. Well it resulted as a blessing because I then did sit down with a makeup artist who pretty much mapped out what makeup to use and how to apply it. So today I will pass on a little of that wisdom to my blogger friends.

1: I always start with Mac's primer. This gives your face a nice smooth foundation for applying the rest of your makeup and to make your makeup last longer. Just like priming before you paint.
2: Next I apply Mac concealer to cover any red spots, unevenness in skin tone, and blemishes.
3: Thirdly, I use Mac's Painter's Pot to prime for my eyeshadow and contour some on my face.
I apply this Painter's Pot to my eyelid and up to my eyebrows. {:This helps your eyeshadow stay put and not end up all in your creas:} Next, I use it in a triangle {:point down:}under my eyes. Finally, I make one line from between my eyes to the tip of my nose with this Painter's Pot for contouring.
4: This is the brush {:Mac brush 190:} I use to apply both my concealer and Painter's Pot.
5: I use the Studio Sculpt foundation by Mac. It gives a flawless finish and contains SPF 15.
6: I apply my foundation to my hand. Then with my Mac brush 188  I dab the foundation around my face in a few places and blend it in using circular motions with the brush.
{:You shouldn't need to use too much foundation because you have already evened out your skin with the concealer.:}
7: I seal all that work with Cover Girl's translucent powder
8: To apply the powder I use Mac brush 187

As you can probably see I am a Mac girl, and Mac makeup can add up$$$. I don't use all Mac makeup, but I like it for my foundational makeup because it definitely has a higher quality than drugstore makeups. And, this is the stuff that is actually touching your skin. As for eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara,  and bronzer I go drugstore all the way. I do find it worth it to splurge a little more on these items.

I hope this helps someone. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or e-mail me.
