I got a text a few weeks back from my best friend talking about this book she just finished reading. She said it was a must read. And since I am on a mission to read 20 books this year, why not right?
The book was "The Best of Me" by Nicholas Sparks. In case you live in a cave, Nicholas Sparks is the author of books like "The Notebook", "The Lucky One", and "Safe Have". All of which have been turned into movies.
Could this book be next? I am thinking certainly, yes. I found myself unable to put it down. It is one of those books that should come with a warning label on the cover: "this book may cause a lack of sleep."
The book is about Dawson and Amanda an unlikely couple in every way. Dawson is part of the family that everyone whispers about for their crazed antics while Amanda comes from a southern well to do family. The two fall in love as teenagers and reunite when they are in their forties as the both return to the small town of Oriental, where they grew up, for their friend and mentors memorial.
The book is about the nostalgia that first loves often hold in our lives. The way over time we often romanticize that love and long of going back to it. The book is something we can all relate to.
If you do decide to pick up this book, I will not be responsible for any of the nights you stay up until 2am reading. :)
