The First Snow Day

It's the first snow day of the school year. It started coming down yesterday morning and everything around me is covered in white. I actually didn't want any snow days this year because we have to make them all up for school. {:I just know I could use all the time I can get after school ends to prepare for the move to Australia.:}

But, there is just something about this snow coming down that puts me in the Christmas mood, puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart I cannot get ride of-and I don't mind.

There's something else about the snow days-it's like God gives you a day to reboot and just be with your family. It's not like a regular day off from work or school because most of the time on a day off you have errands to run and a to-do list to check off. Snow days are filled with family time: game nights, snuggles in front of the fire, and snowball flinging, snowman building memories. The world around us almost stops as the snow falls outside your window and we are able to focus on what is before us. Thanks for being such a good dad to us God that you take a snow day like this to remind us just to stop, breath, and recognize the beauty around us.

{:I couldn't resist a selfie to share with y'all. The snow in my hair made me giggle like a 5 year old.:}

Now, if you'll excuse me I am going to take my oversized sweatpants wearing self to the kitchen to grab something warm to put in my favorite Christmas mug and sit on the couch and cuddle with my Gracie girl while we watch White Christmas.

  2. What a beautiful pic! We don't have snow, but my son and I did have a pajama day today. We chilled in our pjs, ate snacky food, and watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Enjoy your day girly!
