Dressing for other women

We all know this to be true. So since I am leaving for a women's conference with a couple thousand other women this weekend I obviously had to put a lot of thought into what I would be wearing. {:I know that is not what it's all about, but it's fun to be girly with a bunch of other girls:}

Book Review - The Christian Atheist

{:via:}
I have currently completed 5 books on my goal to 20 by the end of the year! Yippee; I am feeling pretty proud of myself.

The Christian Atheist: Believeing in God but Living as If He Doesn't Exist, by Craig Groeschel, is another book I have been recommending to countless people. Five out of five stars for sure. The title alone for me was convicting enough that I had to download the book on my Kindle app. Once I started reading; I could't get enough of the book.

I think part of what made this book so captivatin for me was Pastor Craig's transparency with his own life even identifying himself {:a word renown pastor, author, and speaker:} as a Christian atheist. Just to give you a glimpse into that transparency is this quote from the book: "At the age of 25, I was a full-time pastor and a part time follower of Christ." Reading a book by someone who is relatable takes the book to an entirely new level. It also doesn't hurt that he is pretty humorous as well.

This book challenged me to look at the condition of my heart, but it also encouraged me to do something to change the areas of my walk with Christ that still need a lot of work. It was a perfect blend.

If you look at yourself and can honestly say that some of your pursuit of God and His purpose and will has become monotonous or even been misplaced as a side thought rather than a priority, this book is absolutely for you! I actually wish I had the book in a paper copy instead of on my iPad so that I could pass it on to friends.

What I am reading now: Start Something that Matters by Blake Mycoskie {:the creator of TOMS:}

On my nightstand

The Message: Solo - I usually read The Message Remix, Pause each year. It takes you through the entire Bible in one year by reading from the Old and New Testament each day. But  this year I switched it up and bought myself a copy of The Message Solo Bible and I love it! I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a great devotional. This also takes you through the Bible in one year, but rather than reading the entire Bible Eugene H. Peterson has taken highlights from the Bible, in chronological order, and presents them to the reader. The plan is set up to be read six days of the week with a seventh day as a day of reflection. With each daily passage there is a read, think, pray and live portion. This devotional encourages you to really reflect on the passage for the day and connect it to yourself personally. It is more about the application of the Bible rather than simply reading the Bible. Reading this devotional only for a short time has already brought me so much revelation on scriptures I have simply brushed over in years past.

Start Something That Matters - This book is by Blake Mycoskie, the creator of TOMS. This is my 5th book on my goal to reading 20 books this year. I am already loving it and have gained so much from it. The book starts out with how the idea of TOMS was birthed and executed. The rest of the book encourages people to "start something that matters" and gives practical steps of how to do just that. A book review on it to come shortly.

Take Time to Laugh

Did you know that three 20 second belly laughs are equalivant to 15min of cardio? I found that out at church today. So with it being Monday and all the sole goal of this post is to give you at least one good belly laugh. And remember to share the ab workout with a girlfriend ;)

Christian Pickup Lines:

I was reading the book of Numbers and I realized I don't have yours.

Two snakes are together. The first asks the second "Are we poisons?" The other one says "that's an odd question to ask, why are you asking?" The first snake replies "I just bit my lip."

A man bough his mother-in-law a grave plot for Christmas. Obviously the mother-in-law wasn't happy to happy with her son-in-law. The next Christmas comes around and the mother-in-law is still upset with the man and asks him why he didn't bother to buy her a present this year. The man replies "because you didn't use what I gave you last year."

Sunday Seven 2/17

I almost had to cancel Sunday Seven today! My internet has been down since Thursday. I realized that Thursday was the day a couple of my rooms in the house got painted. I called the internet support and they thought some wires had come loose when the painter took the plate over the wall jack off. They offered to send someone to the house, but not wanting to risk a huge service charge I decided I would give it a whirl and TA DA! I fixed it. Go me! Who needs a man right?

Ok, but you are here to look at cute stuff from Pinterest not hear my triumphant story of jiggling wires ;) So without further adieu...

Loving this soft pink!

High Five 4 Friday 2/15

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day, and good news it's FRIDAY!!

I know it's high FIVE for Friday, but it was a good week with some good highlights so I added an extra one in there...
1) As you may know, I use to compete in the Miss America system pageants. I have many crowns from my pageant days and gave one to my cousins sweet little girl Friday. She was rather excited! How adorable
2) Like I told you in last week's HF4F, one of my besties that moved to GA came home over the weekend and we had a blast catching up Friday night!
3) Saturday I ventured into the city with one of my other besties, my P {:we call eachother P because we always say we are 2 peas in a pod:} which again was a blast.
4) I went to the cutest bridal tea. The bride to be is becoming a green so the "Go Green" cups were an adorable idea.
5) My Gracie girl's 1st birthday was Tuesday!
6) I discovered an AWESOME store in Leesburg on Saturday called Alter'd State and got this cute cross wrap bracelet with John 3:16 on it!

Do you believe there is one right person for everyone?

I guess this is my single girls version of a Valentines Day post. When you're single this is the type of thing you have ample time to think over while your coworkers and friends are busy eating chocolate covered strawberries and signing for flower deliveries.

Anyway, my short answer to this question is yes.

Now for my longwinded explanation of why. I have read books and articles and heard people argue both sides of this topic. But, when I think about this question and really apply it to what I know about my God I can't help but believe He does have one person picked out for me. I mean would the God who knows the number of hairs or my head {:Luke 12:7:} or the God whose thoughts for me outnumber the grains of sand {:Psalm 139:18:} really not plan out such a huge detail in my life? Outside of God this is the person who is going to have the greatest influence on my life.

Our God is a God of details, and I know that He cares about the smallest of things in our lives so there is no doubt in my mind that He not only has "the one" in mind for me, but that He has already created the beautiful story that will be ours.

Just a though for all my single bloggies on this l<3ve day.

Sunday Seven 2/10

Happy Sunday lovely. I hope it's been as amazing as you are.

Has anyone told you that today? Told you that you are amazing, beautiful, and created for such a unique purpose that only you can fill? If not, I am telling you because it is true. Just read Psalm 139

Now that, that is cleared up, on to some of my favorite pins of the week.

{:Pinned Here:}
I really like this idea for bridal/baby showers

{:Pinned Here:}
The recipe for a hand scrub, much like MaryKay's.

High Five for Friday 2/8

1) Super Bowl Sunday at church is one of my favorite Sundays all year!
2) There was also a Super Bowl party that night were I indulged in this 350lb massive cake...mmmm
3)  One of my besties moved to GA with her husband in January and she is coming home today. Can't wait to hook up with her tonight! I am BEYOND excited to see her again.
4)I had a phone date with this amazing friend, leader, mentor Wednesday which also was a huge highlight. I love friends with wisdom, insight, encouragement, and that are just real
5)I get to come home to this sweet face every day. But, she sure makes it hard to leave.

Book Review: Heaven is for Real

{:via:}

I have had this book in my night stand drawer for probably a year or more now. It was one of those books my mom said I had to read, but just never had. In fact I picked it up once and then like I always seem to do,  I put it down because something else caught my attention.

This book was such an easy and wonderful read! And now I know just why it is a New York Times Best Seller. The story in itself is incredible. If you know nothing about the book, it is about a 4 year old boy who has been to Heaven. It is neat that he went to meet Jesus, but the incredible part is the accuracy with which he recalls things. I won't give away the whole book but He knew Jesus sat at the right hand side of God while Gabrielle sat on the left, and that Jesus has a cousin named John. It is just incredible that this 4 year old recalled Heaven in details that completely align with scripture. But, remember this boy is ONLY 4 so this is not stuff you teach 4 year olds in Sunday School. {:Normally it is more long the lines of "Jesus wants you to be kind to others and stop hitting your brother and taking your sister's dress up shoes:}

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. I highly recomend it. It is an easy read and one that you don't want to end.

Next book on my list: The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel

All the Single Ladies

How appropriate is that title since she just rocked it on the half time stage at the Super Bowl?!
...Anywho...

Lately I have found myself in a very different place in my life....Single. But, that's not the different part{:I have been single a good amount in my adult life:} The different part is that this time I don't have a single close girlfriend who is not in a serious relationship, engaged, married, married and expecting, or married with a baby.

Yup, it's different, but not necessarily a bad different. I can honestly say that I am happy {:don't get me wrong I am still praying daily to meet my husband:} and learning a lot about myself. One thing I have learned to do was take a note from David and encourage myself.

So today if you are single, I am going to encourage you with some of my favorite scriptures and quotes for those moments that always creep in when you are either lonely or feeling bad for your single self OR both. It happens, but now consider yourself equipped and ready for those moments.

That's why I don't think there's any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times.

Jude 1:2

And don’t be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God’s place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life. Don’t think I’m being harder on you than on the others. I give this same counsel in all the churches."

Sunday Seven 2/3

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Why are you watching the big game tonight? Commercials? Beyonce? Ravens? 49ers?

If I'm being honest, as much as I love college football, I'm not a huge pro football fan. I'll still be watching though, but more for the commercials and I am really excited for Beyonce's half time show.

I do think it is really cool that the coaches are brothers. With that being said, if I have to pick a team {:and to give me a reason to watch I must:}I pick the Ravens. Since they are only a short hour and a half drive from here.

Okay, enough of this football talk, now for more Pinteresting things
