Why I Started Blogging

I realized while reading Kate's post that I don't think I have ever sat down to tell y'all about why I started blogging. Well, here it goes.

In a matter of a ten minute conversation last year my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there to tell you how I became the princess of a blog about High Heels. {:Sorry I couldn't resist to show my child of the 90's side. Yeah, yeah I know the end didn't quite "flo" but I lack pigmentation in my skin okay!?:}

I started blogging last January after the mother of all break ups. You know the kind, the kind where wedding plans were already starting to be made, you are both talking about finances and how it is going to work, mailing addresses were changed, then boom the next day you are using his t-shirt to clean out the refrigerator as you sob uncontrollably. {:Not that, that ever happened!:}

I knew I needed something to take up the time I would have spent with him, talked to him, or thought about him. So i started this blog. I have always loved to write so I thought why not. Writing has always been therapy to me, and at that point I needed some serious therapy!

I never would have thought it would become such a love of mine. I mean who ever really thinks that html coding could be a blast? I sure never did, I didn't even know what the  heck that was! I had no idea there was even such thing as a "blogging community" and that I would actually find people on here and become friends with them. I read some of your blogs and I feel like part of the fam!

I still spend tons of time staring at a blinking cursor waiting for me to type away my thoughts all the while praying that a spectacular post that will go viral to just appear, but so far it hasn't. And I still curse those stinking "post titles". {:A girl only has so much creativity sometimes:} But I just love y'all and the comments you post. I absolutely love sharing my ordinary, everyday, blessed life with you. So thanks for reading.

xoxo

It could be all down hill from here

This is the last week of work week outfits I'll have until August. Thats exciting, but it's not so good for my Wednesday posts. Now my wardrobe will consist of gym shorts, athletic tops and t-shirts, and flip flops. Hopefully, this little post will encourage me to at least put on jeans a couple days out of the week.

Last Wednesday I wore my favorite hot pink pants, bracelet, and earrings from NY&Co.,
Top from TJ Max and Sandals from Target

 The majority of my outfit on Thursday was from Kohl's
except for my pants which are from NY&Co.

This was my church outfit for Sunday.
I wore my favorite jacket from Polish,
American Eagle Jeans and Sequin Tank,
and shoes from Charlotte Russe

Memorial Day was a casual shopping day
I wore a target v-neck and American Eagle jeans
with Soda ruffled sandals

Tuesday it was back to work and time to show off my
new purse from Kohl's with my top from Forever 21, NY&Co. pants,
and Target sandals. The necklace is Premier and I am loving
the versatility of it!

Yay, only 4 more work outfits to plan for the year!

Are You Ready for This?

The big three day weekend and the unofficial start summer! Well my plans weren't so big but I'll try and spice them up as much as I can to share.

Friday after work I went to my parents and declared it family fun night like I was ten again. The only thing that would have made it better would be if TGIF was on TV with all the classics like Step-by-Step, Family Matters, and Boy Meets World. If you are too young to know those shows, we can no longer be friends. JK…kinda
This is a picture of Dad demanding a recount during a fun, non competitive game of Yahtzee.  Just for the record, I had the highest score of the night. Not that it matters or anything. See, we're not competative.

Saturday started of in a panic. I woke up to discover Gracie had somehow discovered the ant poison trap. OBVIOUSLY I panicked and called the vet immediately. Luckily ant poisoning isn't too bad for pets, they were just concerned plastic had become lodged in her GI tract. Poor girl had to eat a vaseline sandwich. But luckily she loved it…weirdo.

I canceled my plans for Saturday to stay home and keep a close eye on her. It worked out well though because on Saturday it was exactly one year since I brought Gracie home from the breeders. I never knew I could love a ball of fur so much.
I also switched out my winter clothes for my summer clothes and reorganized my closet. I know it's trivial but there is something very satisfying about cleaning. Don't judge ;)
Memorial Day I went shopping with my momma of corse. My big purchase of the day was a new refrigerator. You know you are getting old maturing when you are excited about a new fridge. I also got this gem. Whatcha think? It was time for a new purse.
Then I of corse started watching the new episodes of The Bachelorette. Do you have any favorite guys yet?
Okay enough of the tortures boring details of my weekend.

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and also took time to remember all the military men and women who gave the last full measure of devotion.

It's that time again...

I won't lie this teacher is pretty excited about our field trip to the zoo too. Dear Long Weekend: I like you…a lot. I wish you would come around more often, but then again summer break will do. So make these two weeks fly by quickly so it can be my 2 month long, long weekend wontcha? To the Creator of this Card: You are a geniuses! Seeing this card in Bed, Bath & Beyond made my day. I have been racking my brain of who will be the lucky recipient of it ever since.
Beautiful Mommies to Be: more and more of you keep popping up in my world and it could't make me smile any more. I can't wait to meet your little world changers and see all of your flourish in motherhood for the first or second time.  EEEK! To the Men & Women who serve our country and their Families: this just isn't said enough, but thank you. Strengthening Your Marriage While You're Still Single

Youre probably wondering what the heck this blog post could be about. Strengthening your marriage while you're single seems like an oxymoron, but you can do it.

My friends wrote and sent me this text a couple of weeks ago and I just had to share.

I love the part when she talks about how the only thing you can work on until the prince shows up is yourself. One day soon you are going to get married and the only thing you or I can take into that marriage, that we solely control, is ourselves.

We obsess over the when, where, and how we are going to meet our knight in shinning armor. We even try to take it into our own hands instead of letting God lead us to "the one". {:been there done that, clearly by my single status that didn't work out so hot:} So instead of focusing on all the things I can't control- When will I meet him? Where will I meet him? How will I meet him? I've resolved to work on the one thing I can control -me.

One day soon I will meet the man I'm going to marry, but right now I am dedicated to making myself the best wife I can be by being in the word and allowing God to show me areas of my life that I need to work on and grow in. I'm passionate about discovering new layers of Christ and the depth of His love. If I can just get to know Jesus better I won't look for my husband to fill desires in my heart and being that only He was created to fill. I won't get as disappointed by the things that my husband may occasionally do because  my main focus isn't on him. {:Don't think Im saying we wont pluck each others nerves, that just happens when any two lives connect, but it won't happen as often if he isn't my main focus. Those things come when you're more focused on him and his faults than you are on Christ and the Things He wants to work out in your life. Sorry rabbit trail....getting back to it:}

When I do find my husband I will know that I am giving him my best self, that I didn't just sit byand twiddle   my thumbs while I was waiting for him. I also know that if I passionately peruse God and discover who He is then when I get married my husband and I will be able to find out who WE are in Christ because I've already found myself in Him.

But, we go to the zoo Friday so I am so excited to spend a day outside of the classroom with my kiddies.

Speaking of my kids. I actually saw one of the kids I taught my year student teaching kindergarten. He is going into 6th grade! WHAT?! How is it possible that he is getting older yet I am not? This is bananas

Just Thought You Should Know

Reading a person's blog defiantly gives you a pretty good glimpse into their lives, but there are some things that you will just never know by reading their blog. So this post is dedicated to all those things I just thought you should know, you know if we are going to be blogging BFFs. {:But remember BFF's don't judge right?:}

  • I am the world's worst speller. Seriously. One time I think I had one of my kindergarteners correct my spelling. But, in my defense she tested on an 11th grade level while she was in my class.
  • I would be okay if every Cracker Barrel on the planet burnt to the ground.
  • {:If your name is Andrea Kuhn, don't read this one:} I never brush my teeth at night. Yes, I know I am disgusting.
  • BUT I have never had a cavity.
  • I cannot even remember what my natural hair color is. Its somewhere in the brown family.
  • I believe that ice cream is its own food group and there is no such thing as one scoop. I only accept heaping bowl fulls of this deliciousness.
  • I am so absent minded. You know how parents always say you would loose your head if it wasn't attached? I TOTALLY would.
  • I watch an episode of Friends daily.
  • I cook an average of once every 3 weeks. I have gotten better lately though. About once a week now.
  • I am more comfortable in 5 inch heels than flats.
  • However, I love TOMS.
  • I am missing my second set of incisors on the top {:you have your two middle teeth, I am missing the 2 beside those:}
  • My brother is 14 years older than I am, and no I am not an "uh oh."
  • I have never broken a bone.
  • I could eat at our local mexican restaurant 5 nights a week.
  • I haven't eaten chocolate in 3 years.
  • If I could have dinner with any celebrity it would be Chris Pine. Because HELLO we are going to get married sooooo we should probably meet so he can fall madly in love with me.
  • Laying out by the pool bores me.
Wow that was fun we might have to do this again. What are some random facts about yourself?
